This week at IATEFL sees the launch of the first spin-off title from my original ETpedia resource for teachers (visit Stand 28 if you are there). It’s called ‘ETpedia Business English’ and follows the same format as the first book with a series of units covering everything from how to get started in Business English through to planning lessons and useful ideas for activities. It also looks at areas specific to Business English such as carrying out needs analysis and teaching communication skills such as Presenting and Meeting skills. As someone who has written a lot of books for Business English students, writing a resource with Bob McLarty for teachers who need to teach English for work and business was a new venture. It was a great chance to write down ideas from our years of experience working in the field of Business English and put them in one place.
The launch also marks a new stage in the development of the ETpedia resource books. I’m working as the Series Editor on them and we already have a variety of future ETpedia titles being written by a range of authors. The next one due for release later this year is ‘ETpedia Young Learners’. In the meantime, to give you a taster of what’s in ETpedia Business English, read an adaptation of one of the units at the MyETpedia blog.
