A video about the three i’s of using video

February 26, 2012

I’ve just returned from the APAC conference in Barcelona where I gave a talk about using graded video with examples of videos used in my upcoming course book ‘Life’.

I’ll also be giving a similar (slightly different) session at TESOL Spain in Bilbao and later at IATEFL Glasgow. If you’d like to watch a short summary of what the three i’s stand for then click here to watch an interview with me summarising the talk.  video. Thanks to Gerard McLoughlin from IH Barcelona who interviewed and filmed me.

A lesson on cultural differences

February 20, 2012

I see that OUP have now put some videos on you tube from Business Result online so why not try them in your lesson? One of my favourites is about cultural differences in the workplace: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxFJiIntvvU

It is a very simple format with an expert talking and then some really nice animation added in. Simply, you could play it and then ask students if what he says is true for their culture. For example, ‘what do they think their hamnburger looks like?’ Play it and see…. :-)
